How to Unload a Cement Tank Trailer
What is a dry bulk cement tanker?
Cement tankers are also known as pneumatic dry bulk trailers, powder tankers or bulk trailers.
The cement bulk truck is used to transport cement, lime, sand and various bulk powder materials with diameter ≤0.1mm.

A pneumatic powder trailer is the tank trailer you need to transport powder products like cement. For maximum benefit and use, it is important to understand how it works.
Do a pre-startup check
It's important to do some checks before you start doing anything with the powder. These are mainly for safety and to ensure you get the most out of your trailer. What does this do:-
Securely attach the hot air hose to the tank and do the same for the discharge hose leading to the silo.
Proceed to open the trailer's boost valve, top air valve, and tanker's rear aeration valve. With no overhead air installed, just open the two aeration valves.
Next, close the exhaust port and exhaust valve
Continue to operate the trailer
After completing the above checks, you can now proceed to operate your pneumatic powder trailer. What this does:
1.Engage the trailer's PTO and air compressor for blowing air directly into the silo. It's important to make sure the compressor doesn't start when it's loaded. This is the process of making sure that is the case.
2.Increase the RPM of the truck to the speed required for the compressor to run. The RPM of the truck should be enough to support the work of the onboard compressor. More importantly, the unit should run smoothly. Verify that the oil pressure gauge is reading normally and that there is no noise from the mechanism. Double check the reading on the air filter resistance gauge to make sure it is also good. Before proceeding, it is important to ensure that there are no loose parts and obvious air leaks inside the unit.
3.Close the booster valve to pressurize the tanker to obtain the recommended working pressure for the silo or tanker. This must achieve smooth operation.
4.The next thing to do is to let the boost valve open, then suddenly open the rear discharge outlet valve to start discharging the product directly into the silo.
5.It is important to observe closely as the discharge process progresses. Make sure that the tanker pressure is always below the set maximum value. When the pressure is too high, the tanker pressure will tend to open the booster valve. On the other hand, when it's too low, the boost valve tends to close slightly.
6.Check the tanker pressure to see when it drops rapidly. When this happens, be sure to close the drain outlet valve.
7.Increase the pressure on the tanker by doing the following: open the aeration valve near the cone, close the aeration valve and the booster valve. Repeat steps 4 and 7 until the tanker is empty.
8.At times, some of your shipments may not be fully unloaded. In this case, make sure to remove any residual product from each cone after you have finished discharging to the silo.
9.Drain any residual tanker pressure. This can be done in silos or by using tanker dump outlet valves.
10.Open the boost valve, rev the truck and let it idle while blowing air into the silo. This procedure is required to cool the compressor, then you can now disconnect the PTO. This ensures that the compressor does not turn off again when loaded.
11.Close the drain valve, then leave the tanker exhaust and boost valves open for the next load. If needed, disconnect the hot air hose from the tanker.
12.In an emergency, all drain valves should be closed. Once that's done, the next thing to do is to open the emergency discharge valve located at the compressor outlet. At this point, you can now turn off the compressor.
