How to Tie Down a Load on a Flatbed Trailer

What is a flatbed Container Trailer?

The most common types of flatbed trailers have two beams that are longitudinally spaced from each other. The beams are connected using cross sills or multiple transverse beams, which are firmly welded on the longitudinal beams.

The vehicle-mounted part of the flatbed semi-trailer has no railings and is widely used. It is mainly used for medium and long-distance cargo transportation. Sometimes it can also be used to transport goods such as containers in ports.

When using a flatbed semi-trailer to transport containers, do you know how the container goods are firmly tied to the flatbed semi-trailer?

First of all, it is necessary to use a forklift to lift the flatbed semi-trailer and place it on the loading surface of the flatbed semi-trailer. On the flatbed semi-trailer, different numbers of container locks will be equipped according to the length of the cargo surface behind the flatbed. General quantities will be between 8-12 units.

When the container is hoisted on the load-bearing surface of the vehicle, make the corner hole at the bottom of the container just fall on the position where the lock is installed, turn the handle of the turn lock, and the lock head will be fixed at the specified angle position (usually 90 degrees or 70 degrees), This locks the twistlock. For the lifting type twist lock, push the handle longitudinally to lift the lock head, extend into the inner cavity of the bottom corner of the container, and then rotate to the specified angle to lock the corner of the container. Some turnlocks are equipped with a fastening device. By tightening, the lock head can be pressed down against the bottom surface of the inner cavity of the corner fitting to prevent the box corner from lifting, and the locking is safer and more reliable.

Finally, tie the container with string. At this time, there will be a corresponding number of rope tensioners under the cargo surface of the flatbed semi-trailer. The method of using the rope tightener is to insert a steel wire of appropriate thickness and length into the tiger head. In the round hole in the middle of the wire tensioner take-up wheel, wrap the iron wire around the tiger head wire tensioner take-up wheel twice, tie the other end of the iron wire to the fixed point along the take-up line, and then straighten the iron wire. The clamp of the tiger head tensioner is fixed on the iron wire with gold wire, and the iron wire can be tightened by moving the handle. After arriving at the destination, follow the relevant operations to untie the rope, put down the container lock, and unload the container goods on the flatbed semi-trailer from the forklift.
